Barry White
Can’t Get Enough
(20th Century; 1974)
Isaac Hayes may have started the fire, but Barry White kept the fire burning. ”Mellow Mood” draws on the remnants of Shaft’s balladic instrumentals, setting the mood for White’s string-laden disco (“Can’t Get Enough of Your Love, Babe”) and bedroom magic (“I Can’t Believe You Love Me”). “You’re the First, the Last, My Everything” is probably White’s greatest masterpiece.
