The J Matt Big Payback: We Need Your Support

Posted May 10, 2013 by J Matthew Cobb in Features

As we prepare to invade this year’s Hangout Music Festival, HiFi Magazine’s J Matt is asking for your financial support

Hello Music Lover,

Next week I will be traveling to the Hangout Music Festival to cover this year’s festivities. In case you didn’t know already, Hangout is one of the country’s premiere young festivals and it’s already getting the buzz for its uniqueness. This year’s lineup is super bananas: Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, Stevie Wonder and Kings of Leon are the headliners, while groundbreaking acts like Jim James, the Roots, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Kendrick Lamar, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, the Shins, Passion Pit, Gov’t Mule, Imagine Dragons, Benny Benassi, Baauer, the Black Crowes and Ellie Goulding are also scheduled to bring on the noise. And you would not believe what’s on the itinerary for me when I arrive on the white sandy beaches of the Gulf Coast during this three-day event: Exclusive photos, video, artist interviews, around-the-hour-Tweeting and regular updates via Facebook. Yes, it’s going to feel like you were there.

In the meantime, this once-in-a-lifetime experience comes with a cost. Travel expenses, lodging and the grievous amount of hours that’s goes into preparation and file editing can be pretty taxing for one person. Okay, I might have a little help with some of this, but I still need your help. Without resorting to Kickstarter, I’ve decided to kickstart a donate-and-giveaway campaign. Your donations will go directly to good use in making sure that HiFi gets the very best. The lack of RAM, SD cards or alkaline batteries – your support, both great or small, will end those quarrels. On top of that, those trips at the gas pumps can be a bitch. Your contributions will help in giving my shoestring budget an extra boost of metabolism. Trust me when I say this – it is definitely needed. But there’s a silver lining in all of this. If you make a contribution of $10 or more, you will receive a gift courtesy of me. Below you will find a sample of what’s available.
