Al Green
I’m Still In Love With You
(Hi; 1972)

Sexy, sophisticated, organ-spiked soul dipped in a creamy gospel batter. I’m Still In Love With You stands out amongst Green’s proudest records for several reasons: “I’m Still in Love With You” and “Look What You Done for Me” are fine soul singles; “I’m Glad You’re Mine” possess a hefty drum lick that’s party the reason why sampling of soul records are so prevalent in hip-hop; the five-minute performance of “Love and Happiness,” a non-single showcasing a sermonic prelude about temptation, is simply perfect from beginning to end.
