The Movie: Part of Me
The timing of a Katy Perry bio-doc might be a bit premature, but you have to admit one thing: Her rise to fame caught us all by surprise and Teenage Dream, a Top 40 magnet of an album, put her in epic competition with Michael Jackson. Her marriage to comedian/actor Russell Brand exuded a good bit of charm, but unfortunately failed before our very eyes. This glitzy half doc, half concert film offers a decent close-up of Perry’s ups and downs, and partly explains how she deals with the pressure. The thing may have been a disaster at the box office, but the disc is actually a decent piece of rock star cinematography.
