Nile Rodgers + CHIC Drops Single, Album Release Date
Chic is back with a new single and a release date for the group’s ninth album
Ahh, freak out!
Classic disco legend and hit-making producer Nile Rodgers is finally prepared to roll out new music for the funk-disco band Chic. And it’s about time, considering it’s been almost a quarter-century since their last studio album dropped (1992’s Chic-ism).
This week, the first single from It’s About Time, the band’s forthcoming LP, dropped. “Till the World Falls” contains the legendary blueprint of Chic we’ve all grown to love: the jammy guitar struts, irresistible bass lines and syncopated dance rhythms. And it also features vocalists Maura Masa and Cosha along with co-writing cred and a stunning rap from breakout soul giant Anderson.Paak.
Over the years, Nile Rodgers & Chic has been a constant mainstay at music festivals like Coachella and Bonnaroo, even headlining London’s recent New Year’s Eve celebration. And despite health challenges and scares plaguing Rodgers, they’ve also been putting out singles along the way including the Martinez Brothers-powered “I’ll Be There” and “Back in the Old School,” both released in 2015. Rodgers himself has remained active, appearing on Daft Punk’s Grammy-winning Random Access Memories (2013) and collaborating with talents like Disclosure, Adam Lambert, Duran Duran, Jess Glynne, Alex Newell, Keith Urban, Tony Moran, the late Avicii and a host of others.
Now, after overcoming all odds, the dancing guru will finally drop that forever-and-a-day postponed album on our ears this fall on September 7 on Virgin EMI. It will be available on glorious 180gram vinyl, compact disc and on all digital media outlets.
