2013: Year of the Comeback
Bringing Sexy Back…Again
The “Sexyback” singer and MySpace savior is hoping to knock that other Justin off his high horse in 2013. Justin Timberlake’s musical hiatus stretches back to 2009, when he appeared with Ciara on “Love Sex Magic.” His last album, on the other hand, was released in 2007 (FutureSex/LoveSounds). As the singer-turned-actor makes his way back to music after a six-year absence, he’s shaking off the haters and some of his toughest critics. Some thought his first released single, “Suit & Tie,” wasn’t “sexy” or “revolutionary” enough for their tastes. Mixed reviews started pouring in, while the lyric video for the single now shows 4,018 dislikes (with over 57,000 approving it). Apparently, the Timbaland-produced track is wooing a large fan base since it dropped. It quickly climbed into the Top 100 on the first week of its digital release and rocketed to number 14 on Billboard’s Pop Songs survey, becoming the first male in the chart’s history to make such a debut. So far, the song has reached number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number three in the UK.
A track list of ten songs for Timberlake’s upcoming album, The 20/20 Experience, was made official via his Twitter page. The album is slated to drop March 19.
