JT and Jay-Z team up for old-school-themed 2013 track

The prelude is a waste of space. Actually it’s just a front for what’s to come. All of a sudden, like a magician with abracadabra magic, Justin Timberlake jumps into a lucid groove soaked in Robin Thicke soul and retro gleams. He works his sexy swagger on the catchy hook (“Let me show you a few thangs…about love”) while the Chicago step sound reverberates in the background.  As for the Jay-Z cameo placement, it works as a clever intermission, giving the song enough room to breathe and slow down without being burned to the ground. It does slow down the momentum, which seems to be the only downfall to the track. But the song works. It’s not a super comeback story for JT, but it is one that proves that he’s far from dried out as a cutting-edge musician. This definitely will earn the spins at urban radio, giving Timberlake another run at a George Michael-on-R&B dominance. But don’t be too surprised if this bring his sexy back to the pop charts. It definitely has the tendency to do so.
