MJ tribute concert is shaping up with Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green now on board

Looks like some of the stars from NBC hit show The Voice will be “startin’ sumthin'” in October when the curtains are pulled up on a Michael Jackson tribute concert, slated to be held in Great Britain.

The planned one-day concert, organized by Global Live Events, will feature Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green. Other performers will include Smokey Robinson, Leona Lewis, Alien Ant Farm, British boy band JLS and R&B singer Craig David. No word if any of the Jackson family members or Michael’s superstar sister Janet Jackson will be participating in the event.

“This announcement is just the beginning, we have many more to announce,” said Global Live Events executive Paul Ring. “This concert will unite various generations and musical genres, reminding everyone of just how amazing a talent Michael was.”

Katherine Jackson and most of the brothers are in support of the event. Katherine, the family’s matriarch, is slated to uncover more details on the event live on a Monday (Aug. 15) broadcast on CNN. But Jermaine and Randy Jackson have clearly expressed disapproval over the timing of the event.

“We want to make clear that this does not reflect the position of the entire family,” Jermaine and Randy Jackson said in a joint statement. “While we wholeheartedly support the spirit of a tribute that honors our brother, we find it impossible to support an event that is due to take place during the criminal trial surrounding Michael’s death.”

Michael Forever: The Tribute Concert is scheduled to kick off on October 8 at the Wales’ Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, Great Britian. According to The Hollywood Reporter, fans can begin “registering their interest for tickets” online on Thursday, with a lottery to determine which fans will be invited to purchase tickets. The show is a joint venture between Global Live Events and members of the Jackson Family, including Katherine, La Toya, Tito and Jackie.

So what do you think?
Do you like the line up? Who else do you think should be added? Who should be omitted?
Do you think the timing of the concert is a bit troubling?
Do you think the family is just trying to profit off of Michael’s death?
