New Album from Michael Jackson Hits Stores in December
First posthumous album from Michael Jackson is slated for release in December; new single debuts Nov. 5
Still breaking records as the No.1 posthumous earner of 2011, the late King of Pop – Michael Jackson – will certainly maintain that success when his posthumous new album, Michael, hits stores on December 14.
A snippet of “Breaking News” landed on MJ’s website on November 5 and was accompanied with a clever opening of a music video – using classic MJ storylines. The song, originally recorded in 2007 in New Jersey, focuses on his troubles in the media and the sandals that encircled him during his career.
According to Billboard, an official music video for the song will be released on Monday, November 8.
Insiders close to Jackson’s family reported earlier this month that the family harpooned against the album and are questioning its authenticity.
Brian Oxman, an attorney for Joe Jackson, said in a statement,
“If Michael had wanted this music released he would have done so before his death. The songs which are being released on the new Michael Jackson album were unfinished and incomplete tracks that Michael said over and over many times he never wanted released.”
An Oprah exclusive interview with Katherine Jacksonis scheduled to air this Monday – on the heels of the music video for her son’s new single. It is a possibility that Mother Jackson may be questioned by Oprah about the album’s authenticity. Earlier this week, TMZ questioned LaToya Jackson along with MJ’s kids Prince and Paris about their feelings about the upcoming album and allege the voice on the songs were fake.
But a spokesperson for Sony’s Epic Records said on Friday that the label has “complete confidence in the results of our extensive research as well as the accounts of those who were in the studio with Michael that the vocals on the new album are his own.”
The songs on Michael are purported by Sony to be unfinished songs of Jackson and. The album, expected to contains from twelve to fourteen unreleased tracks from the Michael Jackson/Sony vault, is available for pre-sale now.
