Kem, El DeBarge, Ledisi Join Up for “Intimacy” Tour
Smooth soul tour featuring Kem and El DeBarge is shaping up for the spring
Soul singer Kem will be hitting the road this spring with El DeBarge and Ledisi for a smooth soul tour hitting concert halls and intimate music halls across the country.
Kem, the tour’s headliner, enjoyed major success last year with the release of Intimacy: Part III; leaping to No. 2 on Billboard’s Top 200 and zooming its way up to No. 1 on iTunes’ Top R&B Albums chart and No. 2 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. With the lead singles “Share My Life” and the urban AC ballad “Why Would You Stay” making a major impact on radio, Intimacy ended up being one of the best-selling soulful R&B discs of 2010. “Why Would You Stay” is also nominated for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance and Best R&B Song at the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards, which airs February 13, 2011 at 8;00 p.m. (ET/PT) on CBS.
El DeBarge’s comeback album, Second Chance, is also getting Grammy buzz with his Grammy nominations for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance and Best R&B Song – the same areas Kem is nominated in. DeBarge toured extensively alongside Mary J. Blige throughout 2010 to help promote his new album. He, alongside Verve Forecast artist Ledisi, will join Kem on the multi-city tour and will make stops in Houston, TX, Memphis, TN, Atlanta, GA, Philadelphia, PA and Washington, D.C.
