Returning from the abyss of corrective vocal cord surgery and much needed vocal rest, John Mayer is trying to follow in Adele’s footsteps. And he’s done a good job with his grueling comeback. Besides trying to win back the heart of pop idol Katy Perry in his love wonderland, Mayer has returned to touring. He’s also premiered “Paper Doll,” which some believe to be his diss at Taylor Swift. “You’re like 22 girls in one,” Mayer sings, “and none of them know what they’re running from.” He assumedly takes a swipe out of Swift’s “22,” which is sure to raise a few red flags: “And I’ll look back and regret how I ignored when they said/’Run as fast as you can.’” For God’s sake, we all know revenge is a dish best served cold. And it’s enough reason to put Paradise Valley on 2013’s bucket list.
