Christmas rules the Billboard 200 with efforts from Rihanna and Nicklebeck slightly behind; LMFAO enjoys yet another No. 1 hit single

Michael Bublé celebrates his third No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 with Christmas, which rises 2-1 in one of the tightest races for the top spot on years.  Bublé’s album sold more than 227,000 copies, making this the album’s best performance week so far and his best sales week of all his albums. New albums from Nickelbeck (Here and Now) and Rihanna (Talk That Talk) were all fighting for No. 1 with very close numbers, but fell short of reaching the mark. Nickebeck’s album debuted at No. 2, with a little less than 227,000 copies sold (margin of 0.18%). Rihanna’s sixth top 10 album, Talk That Talk, arrives at No. 3, selling 197,000. Sales for the album were slightly lower than her previous work, Loud, which debuted at 207,000.

Last week’s No. 1 album, Drake‘s Take Care, makes a drop to No. 4 with 173,000 copies sold. Mary J. Blige‘s latest album, My Life II, makes its debut at No. 5 with 156,000 units sold.

With holiday albums now shuffling into the sales stratosphere,Justin Bieber‘s first holiday effort, Under the Mistletoe, makes a slight drop this week, going 5-6. Finishing up the top 10 this week are Adele’s 21 (No. 7), Daughtry‘s latest project, Break the Spell (No. 8), Scotty McCreary‘s Clear as Day (No. 9) and Coldplay‘s Mylo Xyloto (No. 10).

In the digital sales’ world, Rihanna‘s recent No. 1 smash, “We Found Love,” falls out of the top spot and makes way for LMFAO‘s latest No. 1 hit, “Sexy And I Know It,” which sold 226,000 digital units. “We Found Love” sold 209,000. Bruno Mars‘s “It Will Rain,” taken from the Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part One soundtrack, makes a jump to No. 3, with 196,000 sold (up 14%). Maroon 5‘s “Moves Like Jagger” also leaps back into the top 10, moving 12-6 (up 27%). Many of the jumps in the top 10 on the Billboard 200 are a result to live performances showcased on ABC’s telecast of the American Music Awards.
