Fallon’s latest lip-synch tourney with Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Stephen Merchant goes to epic heights

With the Twitter world raging about a particular Jimmy and the latest beef with Kanye West, the other Jimmy on late-night television – Jimmy Fallon, that is, is turning eyes and ears without all the controversy.

Bookmark this one, folks. Permanently.

The funny late-night show host calls on actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt and good old pal Stephen Merchant for the latest installment in his popular lip-sync competition. Two rounds for all three individuals show Fallon take on Eighties gems like a-ha’s “Take on Me” and the Human League’s “Don’t You Want Me.” Merchant attacks hip-hop with a vengeance as he goes through The Fresh Prince’s “Boom! Shake the Room” and a hilarious bit on Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies,” which shows the tall gent taking on Bey’s killer dance moves. But it’s Gordon-Levitt’s spot-on presentation of Elton John’s “Tiny Dancer” that works the crowd into Beatlemania, as he slides on the floor and pours all his makes his lip-synch emotions seem so real. His final performance – a dramatic workout of Nicki Minaj’s “Super Bass” – shows the cool guy exploring every corner of his sex appeal and charm. He’s tossing enough animation to light up anybody’s gaydar, from the use of Fallon’s long tie to the drama-juiced neck rolls. You got to give it up to The Dark Knight movie star; he’s playing to both audiences and having way too much fun doing it. The gay rumors will probably escalate, but it doesn’t matter: Gordon-Levitt’s lip-synch segment proves the dude has magnetic acting skills. His dance moves were just as killer.

These fun-tastic performances added together only proves why the eventual Fallon takeover at NBC’s The Tonight Show is worth a shot.
