At 8:00 p.m (ET) tonight, music royalty will converge on Madison Square Garden for one of the biggest benefit concerts probably since LiveAid. Sir Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, the Rolling Stones, Alicia Keys, Jon Bon Jovi, Billy Joel, Eric Clapton, Dave Grohl, Chris Martin, Roger Waters, Eddie Vedder, Kanye West and the Who are just some of the names attached to the event’s marquee.
The star-studded event – billed as 12-12-12 will help raise monies to help aid storm victims involved with Superstorm Sandy that devastated the New Jersey/New York areas in late October. Many of the scheduled performers are natives of the the ravaged areas, including Bruce Springsteen and Bon Jovi, both Jersey boys. Alicia Keys and Billy Joel have hit songs connected with NYC, while Brit legends McCartney and Rolling Stones’ frontman Mick Jagger both own living properties in the Big Apple.
Lots of classic rock will be on display, but even if you’re not heavy on the rock, this will be one for the ages. Ticket prices have been leaning on the affordable side with ticket prices ranging from $150 to $2,500.
Proceeds from the show will be distributed through the Robin Hood Foundation, a charity organization that raised over $35 million for victims involved with 9/11 ten years ago.
Thirty-seven American television networks, including NBC, HBO and, SHOWTIME will stream the show. SIRIUS XM satellite radio and all CCM+E/NEW YORK radio stations will also broadcast the concert.
