LISTENING ROOM: Donald Fagen’s Sunken Condos
Your opportunity to hear killer tracks off of Donald Fagen’s fourth solo album, Sunken Condos
When Steely Dan frontman Donald Fagen isn’t wowing his Steely fans with rounds of “Kid Charlemagne” and “Peg” with Walter Becker while on the road or rocking with Michael McDonald and Boz Scaggs on the Dukes of September tour, he’s probably concocting something brilliant for the next album. This fall, Fagen unveiled his latest musical trek, Sunken Condos, and it’s a wonder to behold.
Besides the glorified artwork boasting a goregous Pacific blue, the set digs deep into jazz-rock, funk and groovy r&b. The nine tracks on Sunken Condos were co-produced by Michael Leonhart and Donald. All but one track, an Ashkenazi recasting of Isaac Hayes’ “Out of the Ghetto,” are new Fagen originals.
The album is available in CD form, digital download and on CD Softpack at donaldfagen.com. Plus, for vinyl phreaks, you can get the 2-LP set pressed on 180 Gram / High Performance clear vinyl.
For your listening pleasure, we have decided to incorporate a listening room for the outstanding disc, featuring four of the album’s cuts. Enjoy!
