R&B crooner gets the smooth adult contemporary treatment on White House-sponsored  T.V. special

Christmas was a little more special this year with Annie Lennox, Mariah Carey, Andrea Bocelli and Matthew Morrison highlighting this year’s ‘Christmas at Washington’ (aired on TNT). Add to the list a special performance from R&B singer Maxwell. Capturing the smooth elegance of Marvin Gaye during his jazzy Nat King Cole explorations (see 1965’s A Tribute to the Great Nat “King” Cole or 1961’s The Soulful Moods of Marvin Gaye), Maxwell – looking like a dapper Sam Cooke – waltzes his way through “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” and “Silent Night.” Get the egg nog together, Maxwell’s here to get you in the mood.
