Using the smoke of Donny Hathaway “I Love You More Than You’ll Ever Know” as a template, Hall & Oates kicks out their most blatant bluesy experiment to date. It’s unapologetically soul, shuttering all the disparaging colorlines of blue-eyed soul. Chicago-based R&B group The Dells whipped out a delicate cover two years later, but it pales in comparison to the original.
