Def Jam Rumored to Have Fired LA Reid and The-Dream
Rumors quickly circulated earlier this week on blog sites like DimeWars, Gyant Unplugged, Examiner and even BlackVoices about the dismissal of R&B record exec L.A. Reid and record producer and singer The-Dream from Def Jam; claiming both were guilty of lofty, exuberant spending and poor record sales.
A rep from L.A. Reid’s offices are claiming that the rumors are all completely false and are based without merit.
There isn’t a sight of this being conformed by reputable resources like Associated Press, Billboard and Rolling Stone, nor a press release from Def Jam. When we get the final word from them, then we will give the news a go. Until, then the rumors facing LA Reid and The-Dream are still running rampant and continue to dominate music headlines.
The-Dream rose to fame after he collaborated with Christopher “Tricky” Stewart on Beyonce’s mega hit “Single Ladies (Put a Ring Ont It).” In 2007, he signed a recording deal with Def Jam and has since recorded three albums (Love Hate, Love vs. Money, Love King). Record sales and critcal reception for the albums have been pretty low. Only his debut album, Love Hate , sold over 600,000 units. 2010’s Love King sold 100,000 units.
