“The Sky Is Falling”
(1998)
Writer: Sara Allen, Alan Gorrie, Daryl Hall
Producer: David Bellochio, Daryl Hall, John Oates, Peter Moshay
from the album Marigold Sky

Whether deliberate or totally inspired by Motown, the track finds blemishes of Smokey’s “Tracks of My Tears” tuck behind the melodies of “The Sky is Falling.” Both Oates and Hall take turns on the lead vocals, but Oates’s crooning astonishes as he digs deep to become Hall’s equal. It was the only single to chart from the overlooked Marigold Sky LP (#26 AC).
