LMFAO: Party Rock Anthem feat. Lauren Bennett and GoonRock
Hyper party jam finally gets the visuals to match
The level of crunk peppered in LMFAO’s six-minute concept video for “Party Rock Anthem” is the equivalent of Egyptians shouting down the streets after Mubark decided to step down. The opening concept felt like it was lifted from the pages of Revelation, when the Rapture signals the Earth’s last chapters. LMFAO’s Kendal Gordy and Skylar Gordy, known for their codenames Redfoo and Sky Blu, are survivors from a wild night of excessive partying and awaken in an abandoned hospital. They quickly discover they aren’t in a dream. Visually, the video brings silly common folk, street kings and aerobic dancers into the mix, dressed in Hot Topic gear, robotheads and ’80’s throwbacks. Fast forward to 4:23 and you’ll notice Jesus was invited to the party. The descendants of Rockwell, with their choregraphed army of infectious dancers, rock the night away and make Motown proud. Ultimately, “Party Rock Anthem” makes Lionel Richie’s “Dancing On the Ceiling” sound like pre-school chants.
