New announcement from Justin Timberlake declares “he’s ready” to drop new music

Wait for it…wait for it.

Justin Timberlake will be dropping new music in 2013, according to a tweet posted on his Twitter account at 9:01 a.m. today.

The *NSYNC-turned solo pop star-turned Saturday Night Live comedic actor-turned movie star-turned married man, who has been absent from the music world since releasing his last solo album 2006’s Futuresex/LoveSounds, is now ready to drop a few new tracks in the New Year.

“To whom it may concern…I think I’M READY! #JT2013 http://tmbr.lk/imready“, he wrote, directing his fans through a short one-minute video clip of himself entering a recording studio and walking down a few hallways.

“‘Somebody asked me the other day, ‘Are you just done with music?’ It means more to me than anybody else in the world,” he continues. “Look. I’ve only done two albums in ten years. That’s the way I really look at it. What does the next decade mean for me? I’m the one who sits in — is obsessive about it before you even get to hear it.”

He adds: “As close as I get to it, I don’t know that I could physically torture myself that much year in and year out, and expect it to fulfill me the way that it does and the way that it is right now. I don’t want to put out anything that I feel like is something that I don’t love. You just don’t get that every day. You have to wait for it.”

In 2009, Timberlake briefly ended his hiatus with a pair-up with Atlanta R&B singer Ciara for the Top Ten hit “Love Sex Magic,” but went back into hiding to concenctrate more on his career in Hollywood, which has now racked up hit films including The Social Network, Bad Teacher and Friends With Benefits.

So far, 2013 is already shaping up to become a year for major comebacks. Rock legend David Bowie, who has been obviously absent from the music work for over a decade, uncorked a new single earlier this week and is preparing to drop a new album in March. D’Angelo is also working on new music with hip-hop producer/Roots drummer Ahmir “?uestlove” Thompson and has announced they are near completion on the next album.
