Maroon 5: Never Gonna Leave This Bed
Adam Levine and girlfriend takes voyeurism to the next level
Most of the tracks on Hands All Over possess a great deal of radio power, but “Never Gonna Leave This bed,” with its classic Maroon 5 pop/rock melody, striking lyricism and Robert John “Mutt” Lange’s solid production, deserved a single release date more than the others. Surprisingly, Maroon 5 kicks out this midtempo ballad as their third single and they’re hoping the video will spark some more buzz for their third LP.
Continuing where “Misery” left off, frontman Adam Levine and his current girlfriend and Russian supermodel Anne Vyalitsyna takes their love on the road – literally. The video opens with Levine serenading his boo in a golden-trimmed bed and then the bed goes on tour. Maroon 5’s fans spot the two lovebirds caressing one another in their bed and whip out their cell phones initiating a Kodak moment bonanza like inexperienced paparazzi. The coolest concept throughout the entire video is watching the band rocking in a giant crystallized see-through cube while lip synching to their recorded performance. No surprise to those who enjoy Maroon 5’s concept videos, Adam Levine is usually somewhere frolicking with some half-naked babe in a borderline MA-17 video. If you can get pass the freaky nature of the video, you can discover the artistic beauty of its lyrical demonstration. Lyrically, it feels like a pop/rock band’s response to Bonnie Bramlett and Leon Russell’s “Superstar.” Even with the fame and the bloody touring, Levine & Company is willing to keep the fires burning in their love life. As opaque and freaky as it looks on the surface, Maroon 5 successfully gets their point across.
