Ramping up the heavily-lubricated marketing engine behind her highly talked about “Ms. Carter” Tour, Beyoncé is showing off her boss bitch attitude on a “Run the World (Gurls)” sequel. I actually like Bey’s alter ego Sasha Fierce; she’s got spunk, attitude and comes off as a tamer Millie Jackson. I also excuse her sauciness on “Bow Down,” where she tells her haters to “bow down” as if she’s some a 21st century Madusa. Certainly it’ll be more bait in stirring up those Illuminati theories. But the Hot Boy-produced, hip-hop-influenced track is awfully constructed and hardly compliments Bey’s catalog. The Rihanna swagger is heavily copied here – think “Birthday Cake.” When the song crosses the one-minute mark, alien sounds take over, resembling the strangeness of one of those bad Limewire rips done on dial-up. It hardly features her vocal, which is a good thing. Had her voice been plastered throughout the entire massacre, it would’ve sounded like a total endorsement. It’s rumored that the “leaked” track might surface on her upcoming album. Hope she toss this track to the wayside and return back to the drawing board.
