Good Samaritan Helps a Rock Star
“Where are you going?” Stranded Dave Matthews gets a ride to his own concert
It’s not everyday that you read about a rock star in need of help.
But for Dave Matthews, that happened to be the case this past weekend.
While driving to the Dave Matthews Band concert in Hershey, Pa., on Saturday, Emily Kraus and her boyfriend, Joe. noticed a man on the side of the road. With a flat tire, the man needed help to get to his destination. That location would also be the same place that Kraus was heading. Surprisingly, the man ended up being Dave Matthews himself.
Apparently the rocker was taking a pre-concert bike ride and he had no cell phone on him to call anyone for help. Matthews hitched a ride with Kraus and transported him to the concert.
“We didn’t know how to make conversation with him in fact,” Kraus told CBS 21. “We was talking about his tour and stuff and where he had come from and they had just been in Cincinnati, and he said I’m taking a short break after this one because I have to drop my daughters off at camp. He’s just a very humble guy.”
Being the nice guy that Matthews is, he invited the two helpers to dinner and gave them front row tickets to the Saturday concert, along with backstage passes. Those passes were also signed by the star, with “thanks for the ride” as the inscription.
Dave Matthews Band’s 2012 Away From the World earned the 24 spot on HiFi’s Top 33 1/3 Album of the Year in 2012.
