Rihanna: S&M
For Ri’s new video, “S&M” could mean “sleazy” and “monotonous”
Ever watched one of those corny Jerry Springer episodes where the suburban dominatrix puts her wrath on some portly middle-age Southerner? That’s what you get when you’re experiencing Rihanna’s concept video “S&M.” By itself, the sexy tune is full of dance-a-holic punch and wuzzy ’80’s synths – enough ingredients to start up a Halloween party. But the video stands in need of a good douche. Although we’re probably proud that the video isn’t decked out like a disease-infested sexual orgy, the visuals of Rihanna putting revenge on the “media mob” with her whip and becoming a victim to Reynolds’ Plastic Wrap isn’t all that exciting either. It’s great to see Perez Hilton being lugged around on the lawn on a doggy chain, but “S&M” misses a perfect opportunity to make a good track look good on the small screen.
But for the life of me, why is this being flagged as inappropiate for younger audiences? I guess it’s because you can only catch this kind of party on late-night with Jerry Springer.
