While on publicity tour after Grammy victories, Gaga makes pit stop at Jay Leno’s headquarters

Right before the 53 annual Grammy Awards aired this past Sunday, a “60 Minutes” special led by CNN’s Anderson Cooper featured Gaga in her most revealing and intimate interview to date. After music’s big night subsided in the history books (with Gaga winning three trophies), she decided to stop by NBC’s ‘The Tonight Show’ on Monday to show off her latest Grammy additions and to talk about her outrageous outfits, her new single “Born This Way,” her soon-to-be-released LP, an upcoming HBO special, the ‘Madonna vs. Gaga’ comments (no beef, folks) and the “Judy Garland cocktail.”

As for the album’s outspoken theme, Gaga stated that the album and single is about “being able to know that when you were born, you weren’t just born in that moment, you have your entire life to realize the person that you’re potentially going to become and whoever you choose to be was part of your destiny.” Her hope, she said, was to encourage people who are feeling bullied or disenfranchised at the moment to realize that it’s “never too late to harness your inner superstar.”

Despite the outrageous-ness that surrounds her and her “superstar” status, Gaga continues to reveal herself as being personable and endearing.

The new single, “Born This Way,” is on its way to No. 1 on the  Billboard Hot 100, after selling over 450,000 download copies in three days. That’s more than Britney Spears’ latest single “Hold It Against Me,” which sold 411,000.

Her second studio LP, Born This Way, is slated to hit stores in May.
