Sade: Still In Love With You
Sade takes on Thin Lizzy with satisfying cover song
Sade’s take on Thin Lizzy’s 1974 ballad “Still In Love With You” highlights the new material featured on Sade’s latest “greatest hits” collection (Ultimate Collection). It’s a romantic Sade-styled single with all the posh and elegance of the original. Although Sade doesn’t quite insert much of her Smooth Operator personality into the mix while safely riding the comforts of the familiar AM soft rock of the original, her presence on a breezy cover song like this (a definite surprise to the Sade songbook) shows yet another side to the Sade mystique. Her cover comes with a few additions, particularly with the use of a warmly-executed harmonic chorus echoing the song’s title. No heavy Santana-esque guitar solos here. But it’s all true to the formula of Sade and that’s good enough.
