PJ Morton & Adam Levine: Heavy
PJ Morton and Adam Levine get down on that bluesy stuff
It’s not really a surprise: Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine can get down with some soul music. Besides their funky stuff, they’ve messed around with Alicia Keys’ gospel-styled ballad “If I Ain’t Got You, fondled with Al Green’s “Let’s Stay Together” and dug into the crates of Tina Turner’s catalog for “What’s Love Got to Do With It” during their live shows. But Levine goes down on some Southern bluesy soul with fellow road dog PJ Morton during a live gig at the legendary Troubadour in L.A. During the January show, Morton whips up “Heavy,” an uptempo B.B. King-inspired chorus, and is joined by Levine and Maroon 5’s James Valentine. To sum things up, the performance is the stuff that would set any House of Blues on fire.
