Doctor’s orders: Queen of Soul must cancel all concerts through Spring 2011.

Multiple Grammy-award winning soul legend Aretha Franklin cancelled all of her upcoming concerts and appearances until next spring after being giving specific orders from her doctors.

The Queen of Soul was recently released from a Detroit hospital on October 30, where she was admitted for undisclosed reasons.

“The award winning songstress sends her sincerest apologies to her loyal followers and colleagues for the canceled shows,” her publicist said in a press statement released this Thursday.

“Ms. Franklin is resting comfortably at home, but is very anxious to get back on the road to perform for her countless fans around the world,” it added.

The year 2010 hasn’t been an easy one for Franklin. In August, she took a fall, breaking some ribs and rendering her unable to perform at two New York concerts. A month later, her son was beaten up at a Detroit gas station by two men.

Among her upcoming shows being cancelled is a December concert in Detroit that would have seen Franklin performing with former Temptation member Dennis Edwards, to whom she was once engaged.
