Scottish dance-punk band makes the “right action” on new single

Preparing for the full length album (Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action) that’s sure to come, the Glasgow band Franz Ferdinand is kicking things off a new single with “Take Me Out” in mind. As if the band is high on Blondie, they pull out a blazing display of righteous dance-punk on “Right Action.” The beat could be easily associated with The Kinks disco, if it wasn’t for Nick McCarthy’s Rolling Stone-like guitar riffing or Alex Kapranos’ lead resembling a hybrid of David Bowie and Jim Morrison. It’s not as fun as “Take Me Out” but in just three minutes, the band proves that punk and disco isn’t a bad combination after all – when done right.
