“Wait for Me (Live)”
(1983; #18 pop)
Writer: Daryl Hall
Producer: Daryl Hall, John Oates, Bob Clearmountain
from the album Rock n’ Soul Part 1

Recorded at the Montreal Forum sometime in March 1983, the six-minute take on 1979’s “Wait for Me” exposes the duo and their strong backing band while at the peak of their powers. While it plays similarly to the original, the euphoric finale exposes echoing rock guitars, Hall’s Prince-like falsetto wails and a breakdown that sends chills up and down the spine. Your only gripe is that you only wish you were there to witness it in person.
