Penned by Gerald O’Brien, Dave Tyson and Mr. Mister lead singer Richard Page, “Don’t Hold Back Your Love” captures a grown folks’ AC-chiseled armor that hearkens back to Bruce Hornsby’s “The Way It Is.” It feels like a Daryl Hall solo enraptured by an angelic choir. Still, he pours some of his best belting into the track, proving that an AC track can easily become a soulful power ballad if placed in the right hands.
