De La Soul Is Giving Away Their Catalog for Free…for One Day Only
Hip hop trio is giving away their catalog digitally for free. And on Valentines’ Day
In celebration of the 25th anniversary of their classic debut album, 3 Feet High and Rising, the legendary hip-hop group De La Soul will give fans and the curious a golden opportunity to download ONE or ALL of their albums for free at 11 a.m. (EST) on Feb. 14.
“It’s about allowing our fans who have been looking and trying to get a hold of our music to have access to it,” De La Soul member Posdnuos told Rolling Stone. “It’s been too long where our fans haven’t had access to everything. This is our way of showing them how much we love them.”
But you must act fast. At midnight that window of opportunity will be shattered.
Downloads can be accessed at their official website at www.wearedelasoul.com.
De La Soul’s iconic 3 Feet High and Rising showcased the depths of their smart, jazzy rap style and featured crossover hits like “Me Myself and I” and “The Magic Number.” Rock critics universally raved over the album with Robert Christgau calling “unlike any other rap album you or anybody else has ever heard.” Since its release, it has landed on multiple best-of lists from NME, Rolling Stone, Slant and Melody Maker. In 2010, the album was selected to be inserted into the Library of Congress.
