Columbus, Ohio pastor and televangelist Rod Parsley is known for many things: for endorsing President George W. Bush amicably during both terms, for preaching loudly against abortion. But he’s also known for his homophobic rants. While promoting his latest “New York Times best-selling” book and collection of DVDs on the subject, he proudly wrote in a fundraising love letter that your contributions would disarm political movements that would curb hate crime legislation.

Hate crimes proponents say that the bill will protect certain classes of people from crimes based in prejudice. But in fact, it could be used to keep Christians from speaking publicly about the biblical view of homosexuality. Sadly, the $50 couldn’t save him from the financial crisis his church inhabited in 2009.
