Kanye West to Perform at SXSW
This just in: Kanye West heads to SXSW festival for midnight Saturday show
Ending all the rumors, Kanye West has confirmed that he will be appearing at this year’s SXSW festival in Austin, Texas. The rapper, with a critically-acclaimed record on his hands (My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy), will perform a midnight set at the Vevo Power Station on Saturday night. In a video teaser (pictured above), Kanye hinted at a possible appearance at SWSW but didn’t leave big details.
No word if special guests will be there, but after a performance at Manhattan’s Bowery Ballroom, which featured guest slots including Nicki Minaj, Bon Iver, John Legend, Pusha T and Swizz Beatz, West will not be alone.
In other SXSW news, Outkast member and hip-hop star Big Boi will be performing this Monday at Seaholm Power Plant and. 2,000 fans will attend the concert for free. The event, sponsored by foursquare and Pepsi Max, is only open to individuals that follow Big Boi at foursquare and attendees of the SWSW festival and have earned a “Golden Ticket” badge. Those who earn the badge should go to the Pepsi MAX Lot at 3rd and San Jacinto between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday to claim their pair of tickets. The Sounds and Locksley are also performing on the set.
