Kim Kardashian: Jam (Turn It Up)
Kardashian’s musical first should be her last
Music critics should be on the edge of their seats to blow heavy scorn on the reality-TV fashionista and socialite for her expedition into music. “Jam (Turn It Up),” produced by The-Dream, is a demo that should be canned and eternally labeled as an experiment gone wrong. The production lacks the Britney-esque pop it aimed to capture; Kim Kardashian’s thin voice is less interesting than Nancy Sinatra and the song doesn’t even secure enough percolating beats and sounds to want to even turn it up. With very little emotion and sex appeal, she sings, “Turn it up so I can rock the night away.” Her presentation of the club chant lyric is the equivalent of a whisper. Surely her beauty and honey buns will appeal to kids with very little self-esteem, but to those that have a heart for music, they will do what’s best and forget this even took place. Kardashian should consider the dislike ratios on all posted YouTube clips as being the handwriting on the wall.
