Pink: F**kin’ Perfect
P!nk creates the “perfect” song for the imperfect situations of teen life
In a super season of controversy and with everything big and commercial jumping on the Cee Lo Green “F-bomb” bandwagon, P!nk is channeling her energies into a heartfelt power ballad loaded with inspiration, even if it’s getting some heat from conservatives on its method of dealing with taboo topics dealing with teen suicide, rejection and peer pressure. The music video does an artful job in putting the hot button issues on the table in a very realistic way. Although the artform of the music video is just an extension of the song, it’s a bold expression of P!nk’s vision of the lyrics. Without the video, you can still sense the emotional activism of P!nk’s “It Gets Better” ideologies bubbling up as she cries out, “Pretty, pretty please/If you ever, ever feel/Like your nothing/You’re fuckin’ perfect to me.” P!nk, now expecting a baby, knows that the subject is necessary in confronting. As teen bullying grows out of control across America, rather than P!nk addressing the bad guys in the picture, she uses her powerful prose and remarkably passionate vocals to lift up downtrodden spirits. It’s real, it’s sincere and it’s melodically gripping.
