Queen and Freddie Mercury Will Rock You With Trailer to Biopic
Queen expected to become the champions at the box office after dropping trailer for upcoming biopic
Start spreading the news. The official trailer to the forthcoming film Bohemian Rhapsody, a biopic about Brit rock band Queen and their legendary frontman Freddie Mercury, has dropped.
It stars Mr Robot’s Rami Malek in the lead role of the late Mercury, who passed away in 1991. Originally Sacha Baron Cohen (best known for Borat and Brüno) was slated to play the iconic role, but Baron Cohen bowed out from the project, citing “creative differences” as the culprit. The band, who oversees the venture, found him to be difficult to work with, calling him “an arse.” Other issues arose when its former director Bryan Singer was dropped from the project due to taking too much time off due to health issues. Dexter Fletcher, director of Eddie the Eagle, was drafted in to replace Singer midway through production.
The film has been since in the making since 2010, and seems to be finally be rolling out very soon. A UK date is slated for October 24, with a US release slated for November 2.
